Keep in mind when proceeding that "Monte Cohen's Black Christmas WebGallery" originally appeared on the internet in the Winter of 1997, and was closed by April of 2000. Much has changed or been outdated since this site had closed. Laserdiscs are passé, though I've left the old reviews up for various reasons. The reviews themselves appear now to me like self-standing ancient relics, as laserdiscs have disappeared from the marketplace. One should always remember that before DVD, Black Christmas had a laserdisc release and countless VHS video tape releases in the many years since the film's original theatrical release. Also, the look of the old site even appears like a relic. I suppose my HTML and design skills have developed much since those days, and I couldn't be here today without having been there yesterday. When I look back at the ol' site, it seems basic, straight forward and archaic to me now. The internet was in a fledgling state compared to how it is today. The old WebGallery also served as a forum to attempt to unravel many Black Christmas theories, mysteries and myths. For instance, it was never well known the significance and chronology of all of Black Christmas' alternate titles. Stranger In The House and Silent Night, Evil Night were alternate titles for varied releases. Of course today this information is widely known, but back in 1997 it was not. You'll see this confusion and it's clarification manifest here. Because I consider much of the following content as 'ancient relics of interest', I therefore consider the rebuilt version of this site as a 'Black Christmas museum' to house them. There is much content here which is not out dated and is still pertinent. All these elements combined should make your visit here enjoyable. Please consider the following site as a Black Christmas Museum, WebGallery and resource. I recognize in Black Christmas a true masterpiece of art on many levels. It is the Mona Lisa of horror films. Suffice to say, Black Christmas is a film like no other. Black Christmas was created by team effort, many of whom had participated utilizing their own expertise, talents, skills, crafts and techniques. Primarily Director & visionary Bob Clark, original screenplay by Roy Moore, the disturbing and brilliant music & harping chords by Carl Zittrer and the entire cast & crew. |
